It's All About Binding!!

This week my little sewing corner has been all about binding.  I enjoy binding.  For me it pulls the quilt together, completing those unfinished edges and shows off the stitches that make a hand quilted quilt a true treasure.  I belong to our church's quilting group.  Our purpose is to quilt for others, create quilts for silent auction twice a year at the church's annual events and create quilts for sale on eBay.  The money we raise goes to support various missions within our community.
I've been quilting with this group for about 12 years now.  Even though our group is getting smaller, we continue to come up with ideas to support mission projects.
A few months ago, one of our quilters came across three quilt tops.  They were vintage.  Embroidery, Star and Churn Dash.  The Churn Dash is labeled 1931.  How wonderful to know the maker, we all felt a little connected.  We used a low loft batting and vintage backing fabrics to get as close to the quilt tops as possible.  Then we started quilting.

The Star quilt has some feed sack fabric mixed in with cotton.  The Churn Dash is all 1930's cotton, and the Embroidery is from a kit and was already quilted, just needing a binding.
Since hubby and I (more hubby than me) are into vintage paper, we do an Antique Show in Paris each year.  Paris, Missouri that is.  Anyway, the Star quilt (binding is complete) and Churn Dash (will bind next week) will go with us for sale at the Antique Show.
The Embroidery will be offered this week as is, UNBINDED for auction on eBay.  It would make a wonderful spring/summer addition to a guest room and a nice project to have a finished quilt with little work.  This quilt has a higher loft and is like a comforter.
That's what is going on in my sewing corner, how about yours?  Happy Quilting!
