It's All About Color

This little quilt is all about color.  I was inspired by a quilt made in the 1860's,  So I went to my box of bits and pieces and made fabric from bright colors.  Making your own fabric is really fun.  Just start sewing strips and slicing and dicing until you have the size and combination that is pleasing to you.  Give it a try.  Anyway, the 1860's quilt was yellow/orange, red, white and green.  My quilt went a few colors further, but I just couldn't stop myself.  Presently, I'm hand quilting the center fabrics.  Not heavy quilting, just enough to add interest without taking away from the all the shapes.  I'm using red quilting thread.  I plan to machine quilt the borders.  The machine quilting will be straight line, but sections going in different directions--similar to the fabrics pieces in the center.  I also have some applique under consideration, but that is another post.   Check out all the other great Off The Wall ideas here.  Have a great weekend and Happy Quilting !
