Burrrr

Burrrr !!!!  It seems like all I've been doing is trying to stay warm.  The sewing machines have been still, the furnace has been running non stop and I've been doing other things.  This past weekend hubby and I set up his sports memorabilia shop at the St. Louis Cardinals Winter Warm Up.  It is a Cardinal Fanfest.  Long hours, lots of work to get ready and lots of fun.  We have been doing this since the Cardinals started having the show -- 18 years.

Hubby has lots of collectibles to sell, so this is a big deal for us.  He has been collecting baseball cards since the 1950's and things have multiplied.  Talk about a fabric stash, he has a sports stash.  We both have our areas in the lower level of our home devoted to our various passions.

What is nice is that we both like and respect each other hobbies.  We both help the other with their various adventures---so this time of year is my time to support him and put the needle and thread away for a while.
I did have my latest quilt on display at the Warm Up.  It added a bit of color behind our booth.

This little quilt contains St. Louis Cardinal fabric that is now out of print, embroidery stars with the years the Cardinals won the World Series and various Cardinals reminders of some of  fans favorite memories.  The quilt is made up of patchwork blocks and is hand quilted.  I started it during the 2011 series and finished it this year.  There was more quilting than I expected---I think I'll be machine quilting for awhile.

Hubby is now getting ready for the Kansas City Royals Fanfest, which is held next week.  Our son is traveling with him to that fanfest and I'm going to get the house back in order---maybe even turn on a sewing machine.  This has been my life for the last few weeks, anxious to get back to quilt making--I have ideas.
Stay Warm and Happy Quilting!

    1. Love the old blocks. They lend themselves to be made into so many new quilted items. They are always fun.

  2. I'm a Cardinals fan (from over here in the Metro East) ... while I was out of town the weekend of the Fanfest, I might have thought about going ... seeing the Cardinals and that gorgeous quilt would have been worth the price of admission. My favorite thing to do is to quilt while watching the Cardinals play. ;-)
