Celebration---100th AAQI Quilt

Polar Bear Wishes is my 100th AAQI quilt donation.  I would have never believed when I made my first quilt which was #651, that AAQI is now registering quilts with numbers over 11,700 or that I would have made a hundred quilts and earned over $2,700.00.  I've worked on these quilts over the years  in memory of my mother, Helen Hoevel. She lost her battle with Alzheimer's in 1995. During her lifetime she enjoyed sewing and making beautiful applique quilts. She passed on to me the love of sewing and quilt making and I can’t think of a better way to work toward the cure than using the craft my mother so enjoyed.

When I was getting close to this 100th quilt---I was trying to decide which of my little quilts would be appropriate for this honor.  I choose Polar Bear Wishes because I know that the Polar Bear is wishing for a cure.  The quilt measures 6 1/4" x 9 1/2" and is hand quilted.  Wishing everyone a great weekend and Happy Quilting!

  2. 100 quilts donated! You are amazing, Jan Stone, and I love every single one you've made. When I feel overwhelmed by life getting in the way of more quilts to make and donate, I think of you and how even the simplest of your quilts is so amazingly special! Bless you for all that you do for my favorite cause!!!

  3. Thanks for all the kind words. AAQI is a wonderful way to raise monies and making mini quilts is such a pleasure. Just one little quilt at a time.
