I'm joining in on the fun---hope you'll join in too!. The Back to School Quilter's Blog Hop Party will be underway until September 3. For this blog hop I'm giving away a great book by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes Say It With Quilts. I discovered this book a few months ago and greatly enjoyed the stories, quilt patterns and ideas. To quote Laura Nownes "this book is all about...our feeling toward a special person, event, pattern or fabric that inspires the making of our quilts."
To enter for this give-away leave a comment about what inspires you to quilt. The winner will be announced on Monday, September 3 at 6:00pm central time. All comments will be individually placed in a bowl and the winner will be drawn. A link to the other Blog Hop Party participants can be found at http://quiltinggallery.com/quilters-fun/quilters-blog-hop-party/
Enjoy the Hop and Happy Quilting!
Playing with colors inspires me to quilt--I just love to make new color/fabric combinations! (which explains why I don't finish much--and start way too much!)
ReplyDeleteReading blogs inspires me!
ReplyDeleteFabrics and things all around me inspire me - I buy fabrics that may sit and sit and then one day I see something that I know those fabrics would be great as and shabam - a quilt is born! Thank you for the chance to enter your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteAll of the fabrics are what inspire me to quilt. I love mixing the colors and patterns to get a quilt that I love to work on.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the need to create with my hands, I've always been that way. This looks like a lovely book.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance
Thanks for the chance. I recently was inspired to quilt by an idea I had. I started sewing about a year ago. All this time I have been making gifts for people but never my husband. I don't think he cared much, but he did mention a few times I never make him anything. The reason is that he's the only person who's opinion I cared about and I didn't want to make him something while I was starting out. Plus I wanted this perfect gift. So I had the idea to make him a batman quilt. Its like a pixel quilt. Completely my own design. My husbands favorite thing in the world is a good movie. His favorite movies are either scary, or the new batman movies. Anyway, I know he'll love it. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI have somewhat of a fabric obsession, so the fabrics are definitely what inspire me to quilt... I love mixing the different fabrics to come up with something completely unique :)
ReplyDeleteI am your 21st follower. That's a lucky number, right? I love the look and feel of quilts....the patterns and the colours especially. And I love the joy in the faces of the recipients of my quilting projects.

ReplyDeleteI think fabric determines how it will be made. I see others patterns and make something similiar from several quilts.
ReplyDeleteMy love for quilts came from my love of fabrics and sewing as a young girl. First it was creating a unique garment to fit my awkwardly tall frame as a kid, then on to making quilted jackets and now mostly making quilts. I love touching fabrics, picking out colors and playing with how they relate to one another. Thanks for a chance to win your book. Another Missourian.
ReplyDeleteFamily and Fabric inspire me to quilt. I love to make them all sorts of things! Thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeletequitling itself is something I do because it doesn't need a lot of tools (I just don't have a lot of space) and I can play aroudn with textures and colours. I often jsut quilt because Ilike a certain fabric and then look for matchign fabrics .. and in the end I either keep it or the patterna dn colours look liek they belong to a friend or family member and then it turns into a gift...

ReplyDeleteUsually, my inspiration to quilt comes from seeing something when browsing through the many great blogs and quilting things I see on Pinterest. I have to browse all the time, because I am stuck working on a hand pieced, hand quilted, queen size quilt since 2010... and in the mean time all I can do is dream about the next, next, next quilt I am putting on my list of things I will do. I love piecing things by hand.. do not like hand quilting. THAT is my new decision.
