Sunday---Precious Promises

The Lord is my protector;
he is my strong fortress
My God is protection, and with him
I am safe.
He protects me like a shield,
he defends me and keeps me safe.
Thank you Lord
for your
protection and peace.
Amen

Sunday---Precious Promises

Even though you are so high above,
you care for the lowly,
and the proud cannot hide from
you.

Randy's Christmas Star Quilt

Each year my church quilting group, Lydia Circle, places a quilt up for Silent Auction at the annual church  Bazaar and Turkey Dinner.   It will have a label and be displayed in our entry for a few weeks ahead of the Bazaar for people to start bidding.   This year's quilt is special and I just finished the binding.
Randy's Christmas Star was a great pleasure for all of us to work on.  Randy was one of our quilter's.  She passed away a several months back and her children were going through her things. She was a avid quilter and a huge supply of quilting items, fabrics and projects.  The family gave Lydia Circle many boxes of items.  We sorted, gave some away, sold some and kept some.  I was just starting to organize our quilters to make a Christmas quilt for the annual Bazaar when we stumbled on to a quilt top that Randy started, but was not completed.  She had all the fabric needed for the quilt and we were able to complete the blocks and borders from that fabric.  Each block is different and all have a Christmas theme.  So, we created Randy's Christmas Star Quilt.  She would have been very pleased and honored to have her quilt auctioned off.  The proceeds from the sale of the quilt goes to support local charities and our church various missions.  Check out the great ideas at Off the Wall Friday
Happy Quilting Everyone!

Monday Morning Thoughts

Outside of my Sunday morning routine of blogging Sunday---Precious Promises, I have been very quiet on my blog.  So much has been happening since my last post.  The last thing I have written about was the heart attack suffered by my hubby on Memorial Holiday weekend. He is doing great.  But, the heart attack has caused some rethinking and a move toward life changes for our household.
Hubby is still active and busy as usual, but his stamina has changed.  He does not have the physical strength or maybe it is the desire it takes to manage our acreage.  We live in a woodland of Missouri and our property needs attention which is getting hard for him to handle and still do the other things he enjoys.  He is having to pick and choose what can be done in a few hours a day, before he has to rest.  So, we are in the process of downsizing.  We both love the animals and the quiet of our property, but it is time for us to create a simpler lifestyle.

We have been busy looking at condos, apartments and smaller homes in subdivisions.
We are leaning toward apartment living.  We have found two apartments that are 3 bedroom and as big as the houses we have available in our area.  The freedom that apartment living can offer is very appealing to us at the moment.  But the first goal is to unload this house and get it sold.
As in all downsizing projects, we have our work cut out for us, 52 years of marriage brings with it lots of stuff.
The work has begun.  We are taking a room at a time.  Deciding what we really need, packing it up. What is left will be up for sale or given away. Our next step will be to fix up and stage so that the house is appealing to buyers.  Most of our fix up on the inside will be painting, maybe some new carpet in the lower level and a couple of bedrooms.  The big work will be outside, presently, our grounds are in the process of major landscaping and that must be completed.  The woods needs the usual attention of removing some dead trees and wood stacking. I've already started looking for companies that can do this work for us.
That's what has been going on in our household and why my blog entries have been so few.  I'm here just checking off the To Do list.
Of course, I'm still stitching.  I plan on doing a local craft show in October.  Getting Prayer/Blessing  Flags ready.  I'll let you know how that goes.  Happy Quilting!!

Sunday---Precious Promises

Give to others,
and God will give to you.
Indeed, you will receive a full measure,
a generous helping,
poured into your hands--all that you can hold.
The measure you use for others
is the one that God will use for you.
Luke 6:38, Good News Bible

Sunday---Precious Promises

"Let your hope
keep you joyful,
be patient in your troubles,
and pray at all times
Romans 12:12, Good News Bible
Yes, Lord, we will be happy
and stand our ground
in prayer.
Amen
