Sunday---Precious Promises

Leave your troubles with the LORD,
and he will defend you;
he never lets honest men be defeated.

Sunday---Precious Promises

But I reckon my own life to be worth nothing to me; I only want to complete my mission and finish the work that the Lord Jesus gave me to do, which is to declare the Good News about the grace of God.  Acts 20:24, Good News Bible

One of My Favorites

I would have to place this little Prayer Flag as one of my favorites.  This is an order I completed today.  They requested I included:  red, flowers, Mary Engelbreit and butterflies.  The flag is not on the white/off white background that I usually use, this one is on a soft peach.  It features an embroidery butterfly, hand stitches, heavy stock paper, lace, beads and Mary Engelbreit style fabrics.  I included the words: healing, strength, and courage.  With each flag I send a brief history of  the Prayer Flag.
I'm linking up with Off The Wall Fridays check it out.   Here's wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and Happy Quilting!

Sunday---Precious Promises

Make up your minds ahead of time not to worry about how you will defend yourselves, because I will give you such words and wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to refute or contradict what you say.

It's For Sale

Sometimes it's hard to let go of a project, but it's time for me to do some quilting house cleaning.

I made this quilt in 2014 for the Notable Women Quilt Initiative.  The quilt was accepted and toured the Northwestern Unites States from March 2014 to July 2015.  Entitled--Still Saving Lives-Clara Barton.  I tried to think of a person whose good work is continuing today.  The American Red Cross has had a global impact on so many lives, thus my choice of Clara Barton seemed fitting.  She began her quest to help others during the Civil War.  She would tear cloth for bandages and tend to the soldiers on the battlefield.

To represent her beginnings---I tore all the fabric used in this quilt.  The large cross is filled with smaller torn crosses from various fabrics.  The crosses are attached to the quilt with hand stitching, which allows the raw edges to turn and ravel with the natural makeup of the fabric.  The sheer fabric is stenciled with a slight tilt to represent the drops of blood the American Red Cross has provided to save the lives of so many.  The quilt is both machine and hand quilted using silk and cotton perle threads.  I love projects and this was a fun quilt to make. But, it is now time for it to move on.  I always felt it would be nice hanging in an American Red Cross office somewhere.  Maybe it will??
Check out the other wonderful quilts at Off The Wall Fridays and have a wonderful weekend.  Happy Quilting!!

Happy Mother's Day

Enjoy the day!!

Sunday---Precious Promises

God is our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.  So we will not be afraid, even if the earth is shaken and mountains fall into the ocean depths; even if the seas roar and rage, and the hill are shaken by the violence....
The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Psalms 46 1-3, 11, Good News Bible

Prayer Flags Creation Day

This week has been a week of concerning news from family and friends.  So, I was busy this afternoon putting together three Prayer Flags.

Butterflies encouraged the creation of two of the flags.  I fussy cut the butterflies and fused them to the flag base.  Usually I embroidery the words on the cloth, but for some reason I decided to stitch a card with the words---courage, strength and healing today.  I like the card and will probably do that more often.  I'm thinking of getting a marbleized paper stock to give the cards a little more punch.

The third flag is for a Trout fisherman.  I just happened to have fish fabric and so continuing with the look I was working with today, I fussy cut the fish and fused them on the background cloth.  Added beads and leaves--gives the flags a more masculine look.

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Quilting!

Sunday---Precious Promises

God says, "I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as Lord.  When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them.  I will rescue them and honor them.  I will reward them with long life; I will save them."
Psalms 91 14-16, Good News Bible
