Sunday---Precious Promises

Listen and I will teach you what wise men have said.  Study their teachings, and you will be glad if you remember them and can quote them.  I want you to put your trust in the Lord; that is why I am going to tell them to you now.  I have written down thirty sayings for you.  They contain knowledge and good advice, and will teach you what truth really is.  Then when you are sent to find it out, you will bring back the right answer.

#5  Show me a man who does a good job, and I will show you a man who is better than most and worthy of company of kings.  Proverbs 22: 17-21, 29 Good News Bible

Working on Three at a Time ???

Do you ever get more than one quilt going at the the same time???  That what's happening to me--my own fault.  Or, is it the creative process.  When I'm working on a quilt project, other quilt ideas pop into my head.  "To many quilts to little time".  I think I heard that somewhere.  Hearts have been floating around my head lately.  I have some fuzzy ideas and not real sure where this little guy will go, but I will post the finished project.  The primitive quilt is starting to come into focus.  My idea is becoming clear and in a couple of weeks I will have the time to spend on it.  So how are your ideas forming?  Fuzzy or Clear?  Happy Quilting!

Primitive---Starting with a 4-patch

I have an idea for the little primitive quilt I want to make.  I've always loved applique over patchwork.  So here is my beginning navy and tan---4-Patch.  I really can't tell you what will be next, but this little 4-patch plus others will be in a 9-patch layout and the center of the quilt.  The next section will be a border, but not sure what.  I will audition some ideas before I move on.  This quilt will be created one section at a time.  Where will it end????  That's what I like about free-style quilt creating, sometimes I don't even know what quilts will look like.  Stay turned.  Happy Quilting!

Saying Goodbye is Always Hard

We built our home in the summer of 1999 in a quiet little farming village of Josephville.  Within a few days we were adopted by a little farm cat we called Ms. Kitty.  Our vet thought she was about a year or two old when she arrived.  We don't know why she had a crooked ear or which farm she came from.  All we knew is that she wanted to share her life with us and that is what she did.  She was our inside/outside cat.  She spent most of her time being a fun little outside cat, but when the temps would drop in the winter she made her home inside with us, she loved the warmth by our furnace and spent most of her time in our large furnace/storage room.  She was not a high maintenance cat, she was just a sweet little cat who loved her adopted home.  Today, Ms. Kitty has passed to the Rainbow Bridge.  We were blessed to have been adopted by Ms. Kitty, to enjoy her antics, devotion and unconditional love.  It's always hard to say goodbye.  We will miss this sweet little girl.

Primitive Quilt ???

What is a Primitive Quilt?  Is it an old patchwork or folk art and applique.  I'm in a search to find out.  To help in my discovery of primitive, I found the
Folk Art Museum of New York a wonderful place to look at beautiful quilts from years gone by.  You may want to stop by.  What do you consider a Primitive Quilt? The style, the color, an old quilt block pattern???   These next few days I will be looking at my bits and pieces and trying to create a Primitive Quilt.
Happy Quilting!

Something Out of Nothing

I've been reading some fellow bloggers New Year's resolutions or should I say word/words for the new year.  A personal challenge to self, to quilt on in 2015.  After some thought I have decided to do the same thing.  What will be my personal challenge in 2015?  I remember my Grandmother always said that I had the ability to make something out of nothing.  This year I'm going to try.  As I look at my quilting supplies, bits and pieces of  fabric, unusual textiles that I have here and there, even some nothings I have in my personal life.  I decided that my challenge for 2015 will be

Something Out of Nothing

I have my first Nothing.  I really started this in 2014, or I should say hubby started this in 2014.  Hubby bought an old wooden box marked PLATES at an estate sale.  Inside the box we found about 100 cloth bags.

The bags range in size from 8 x 9 inches to 3 x 4 inches.  They feel like a sailcloth and have a flannel type interior. We have no idea what type of plates were stored in these little bag.  But the wooden box was also lined with a straw covered in cloth.  This will probably remain a mystery.  But the bags will be re-purposed into Something.  I made a gift bag to hold a small Christmas present for an old quilt block and primitive stitches.

The bags are easy to take apart and embellish with bits and pieces of fabric and stitches--maybe even a bead or two.

So here is to my 2015 Personal Challenge.  One day at a time I will walk through the year making something whether fabric or personal achievements out of all the nothings.  Happy New Year and may your personal challenge be fulfilled, too.  Happy Quilting!
