Your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1 Corinthians 13:4,5
Welcome to my patchwork journal. I enjoy expressing myself through fiber. Tiny pieces of vintage quilt blocks and fabric combined with hand stitches create my art. When not quilting I'm living a patchwork life. Always changing and helping to keep me young and on my toes. Join me in my experiences and thoughts.

Burrrr
Burrrr !!!! It seems like all I've been doing is trying to stay warm. The sewing machines have been still, the furnace has been running non stop and I've been doing other things. This past weekend hubby and I set up his sports memorabilia shop at the St. Louis Cardinals Winter Warm Up. It is a Cardinal Fanfest. Long hours, lots of work to get ready and lots of fun. We have been doing this since the Cardinals started having the show -- 18 years.
Hubby has lots of collectibles to sell, so this is a big deal for us. He has been collecting baseball cards since the 1950's and things have multiplied. Talk about a fabric stash, he has a sports stash. We both have our areas in the lower level of our home devoted to our various passions.
What is nice is that we both like and respect each other hobbies. We both help the other with their various adventures---so this time of year is my time to support him and put the needle and thread away for a while.
I did have my latest quilt on display at the Warm Up. It added a bit of color behind our booth.
This little quilt contains St. Louis Cardinal fabric that is now out of print, embroidery stars with the years the Cardinals won the World Series and various Cardinals reminders of some of fans favorite memories. The quilt is made up of patchwork blocks and is hand quilted. I started it during the 2011 series and finished it this year. There was more quilting than I expected---I think I'll be machine quilting for awhile.
Hubby is now getting ready for the Kansas City Royals Fanfest, which is held next week. Our son is traveling with him to that fanfest and I'm going to get the house back in order---maybe even turn on a sewing machine. This has been my life for the last few weeks, anxious to get back to quilt making--I have ideas.
Stay Warm and Happy Quilting!

Thinkin' Spring
I know it's January and that we have 9 inches of snow still on the ground, but this photo of a fence row of quilts airing in April is a great reminder that spring is coming and green grass will flourish. I can feel the warm breezes, hear the birds singing and see the spring flowers in bloom. It's great to have a break from the white landscape that is out my window today. But, warmer temps are on the way with rain. Another good day to quilt. Enjoy your Friday and if you're like me you'll be Thinkin' Spring. Happy Quilting to All !!!!

It's Warmer in Alaska
I did a raw edge look. There is a reason for that--to be explained later. I have more machine quilting to add, a few more hand stitches and a layer of fabric. This is definitely an art quilt. The traditional quilting rules have all been broken. Do you ever break the traditional quilting rules? I find it fun to step out of the traditional world and just do. I hope to be doing more art quilts this year---something different appeals to me. Whatever you do traditional, art, crazy, enjoy and have a great Monday. Happy Quilting!!!

Sold Out !!!!
Crazy Summer Fun
My last AAQI quilt sold!! Just as the clocked ticked down to the closing of the AAQI Project, my quilt Crazy Summer Fun sold. This is the final quilt to sell of the 111 quilts I donated to the cause. My little quilts earned $4,089.40. AAQI earned 1.1 million dollars for Alzheimer Research. Wow, what a great accomplishment. It was fun to make these little minis. A big thank you to all who purchased a quilt. Have a great weekend and if you are in the path of the snow and cold temps, stay warm---good time to quilt. Happy Quilting to All !
