The road to Prescott, Arizona
Welcome to my patchwork journal. I enjoy expressing myself through fiber. Tiny pieces of vintage quilt blocks and fabric combined with hand stitches create my art. When not quilting I'm living a patchwork life. Always changing and helping to keep me young and on my toes. Join me in my experiences and thoughts.

Ready for Quilting
My Liberated Round Robin quilt top Dogs and Dots is finished and ready for quilting. I added a 2" border of various fabric I used in the project, readjusted some dots and, of course, added one more dog with a dotted sweater. The top measures 22 x 22 inches. I have a Mary Engelbreit looking laundry room and I think this little quilt will work perfect as a wall hanging.
Quilting is my problem area on projects. I do a lot of hand quilting, but would so like to become a free motion quilter. I'm not sure how I'm going to quilt this little project. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
I get lost in planning what type of quilting to do in the different areas of a quilt, especially one like this where there are so many different design elements.
The AAQI quilts are in the mail--all 21 of them. So now I can concentrate on my Critter Quilt. I have been making various blocks and collecting novelty fabrics to represent some of my critters that are a little difficult to draw or stitch together, so I'm to the point of joining blocks and rows. As I get more of them together I show them in a post. Until then, Happy Quilting!!

Off to Ami
Today I'll be playing my role as Temporary Quilt Registration Goddess. My quilt group Crossroad Quilters have donated a group of sweet AAQI quilts. I'll also be sending in the quilts I've made during the year. Our total will be 21 quilts. Ami is setting a goal of 1500 quilts for sale at the Houston Quilt Show. There is still time! Make a quilt and help the cause. Happy Quilting!

Sunday--Precious Promises on Monday & Other News
You shall make your prayer unto him, an he shall hear you. Job 22:27
AAQI Makes Headlines
If the “Quilts for Sale” page is looking a little thinner, that’s because we have already begun hoarding quilts for Houston.
International Quilt Festival is our biggest opportunity to sell Priority: Alzheimer’s Quilts and we can’t wait!
This year our goal is to bring 1,500 quilts!
Can you help? Money earned from the sale of the quilts you donate helps us pay for Alzheimer’s research.
As we create sales tags for each quilt going to Houston we move it from the Quilts For Sale page over to the Houston page. We’re starting with the lower-numbered quilts and only taking quilts that have never been to Houston. Once the quilts are moved they cannot be purchased until Festival. So, shop the sale page before the quilt you want is moved!
It is a very labor intensive process to create the sale tags, but at some point we hope to “catch up” and new quilts will go directly to Houston the page.
Is there a deadline for making a quilt for Houston? Yes, but we really don’t know what it is yet. By time we know, it will probably be too late to be helpful to you. The best thing to do is to dedicate the next 30 days to creating your most fabulous quilts ever. Check out the binding and “sleeve-ing” tutorials at the bottom of the quilt donation page, and budget in plenty of time to register and then ship your quilt.
Hope you can join the fun of Miniature Art Quilt making and help out the cause.

My Bags are Packed
My bags are packed and I'm on my way for a week in Chicago. I'm taking along a AAQI quilt that needs some hand quilting and of course quilting magazines. This is a working holiday---the quilting will be a refreshing break from a hopefully busy week. Today's photo is a vintage 1950's quilt from my collection. It is a great Liberated Log Cabin featuring a travel stickers motif fabric. Perfect to say I'm on my way to the "Windy City" and that I'll be unplugged from my blog for a week---be back on Monday the 9th. Have a great week and Happy Quilting!
